Sand Lily:

Throughout the spring and into early summer, these large, white flowers will poke out of the rocky sand all throughout Colorado. They provide bees and hummingbirds with lots of early-season pollen, and are bit too woody for larger wildlife to graze upon. Sand Lilies have a unique way of propagating their seeds. The pollen from the spring travels down the flower from the stamen and into the ovaries underground. Come the following spring, as the flower blooms, it pushes the seeds from its ovaries and pops them out to spread. Thus, Sand Lilies often grow in clusters.
