Somewhere, somewhere lies a heap,

Full of things I'd like to keep.

An ancient sword, a slender stick,

A hobbit’s long-lost handkerchief.

A glittering key, a diamond flask,

Loving echoes from a past,

I know but have not lived.

 

The roughened, shining dragon scale,

A golden skirt and soldier’s mail,

A fine-yet-thorny crimson rose,

A starship scarred by many foes.

A pennant stirs in lightest breeze,

Danced round and round by golden leaves,

A tale from long ago.
