As much as I hate politics, my involvement in them in inevitable. I took a long and much needed break from the political world, but now that I'm getting near the voting age, I've been pressured by many people in my life to get involved again.
I don't expect to necessarily change minds or opinions. This is just how I see it. I will present a few facts here and there, which is what I base my opinions on. But, this is just how I see it, and I hope everyone can keep an open mind.

I caught my first bull snake when I was seven years old. I don't really know where I was or what I was doing, but the look of horror on my mom's face is branded into my mind. The snake wasn't aggressive. He was fat and sunning himself. I remember picking him up by the end of his tail with one hand, and with a finger from my other hand, I slowly moved up his back, careful to not rub his scales the wrong way. I found the base of his head, and then pinched his mouth shut. I couldn't hold him straight because he was so long. That's as far back as I remember, but my mom said I bragged about it, and then let him go in a field near the path.

When someone with Cystic Fibrosis dies, it hits me pretty hard, but not like grief or depression does. It makes me realize that I'm basically fighting a war, and what makes this even more real, is the fact that I connected so well with several war veterans at a leadership conference in Boston. In fact, one of them even said I was his hero, and that man had practically saved an entire city from terrorists single-handedly.

Note: Since I spent Saturday sleeping and taking pills, I've gotten a lot better. I'm still not 100% sure what was really wrong with me, but I'm glad to be almost completely better. To celebrate, my dad picked me up and we decided to go up to the mountains again, and drive up Cascade Creek as far as the Xtrerra could go. We expected it to be rough, but we didn't expect it to be dangerous.

About three years ago, one cold Christmas day, I got my first dirtbike. It wasn’t really a dirtbike. It was a miniature version of a dirtbike that lasted long enough to give me a scar and a few minor injuries, and gave me some confidence to move to a full-sized dirtbike. Once I was done with it, I got my hands on an actual dirtbike, a red 1996 Honda CR80. It has worked well for me in the last two years I’ve had it. Sure, it can be hard to deal with at times, especially since it’s a two-stroke, and I've put it through a lot, but it’s mine and I’m proud of it!
