clear sky and light frost
our first autumn morn
slight chill in the dawn air
sharp shadows among the rocks
only foraging deer moving
their work not yet done
yet flowers still bloom
new growth on tree boughs
speaks of second spring
or summer remaining
long past equinox
clearly work not yet done
honey bees flit
from flower to flower
and plant to plant
leg sacks full of pollen
butterflies sipping nectar
life’s work not yet done
all around, as the world
turns and seasons change
life is always moving
adapting, growing, changing
with the calendar and seasons
For life, work’s never done
