The weekend was great

Adventure and accomplishment ruled

Blue sky o’er all and a pleasant breeze

Even though it was virtual

The derby brought smiles and cheers.

But the weekend is over

And so is the blue sky

It didn’t rain but it felt like it would

Maybe even a little snow

and oh...the paperwork

It seemed more than usual

tests, explorations, awards,

communications overflowing.

Or was it the weather

bringing a feeling both glum and maudlin.

Perhaps that is the price of fun

to pay in work and service

the drudgery of chores small and large

Seeming greater in proportion

to the fun the weekend brought.
