A long time ago, me and another writer, who is no longer active, used to do these little poetry challenges. We would give each other a word or a line, and then give our selves five or ten minutes to write a poem off of the prompt. Well, a few days ago, in a group chat, me and Katrina decided to give it another shot for old times sake, and this is what resalted.

I’ve been a builder for almost 20 years of my life. Ever since I was a toddler I have been building things. And over these many years of expertise xD I have come to some conclusions.

I know you have run in the race for a long time, I know you are a veteran of countless battles and you have marched with troops into battle while on your knees in prayer. But I also know that right now, the fight has warn you down. You have scars that only our savior can heel. You are cold and lonely but I want to remind you of the sunshine.

A look at the communication of body language of a digital avatar.

So, as a kid I did not play that many video games, but as a teen and young adult I found myself getting sucked into the gaming community specifically with a game called minecraft. I found it difficult to communicate through only a text chat. But many players had already helped solved this issue. I began to learn some short hand communication by producing certain movements with my avatar. If someone wants to give a greeting, you walk up to a person and use the crouch feature. Similar to how people in some culture bow to one another. Its a way of showing recognition and respect. If a player is excited than they may jump to show their joy. If a player is sad about something than they may crouch and bow there had and sort of move diagonally away from another player to show shame or embarrassment. This mimics the act of shuffling from foot to foot or digging a toe into the ground used in real life.

Authors Note:

I wrote this one day after reading a passage in the Gospel of Luke, specifically chapter 2 verses 22-40 in the NIV translation. Some of the dialogue and words are lifted exactly from the text but most are paraphrased and embellished. I wanted to imagen what it was like for a man waiting for the deliverance of Israel, to not only meet the one to bring hope, but to actually hold the child of promise in his arms.
