Its touch gentle,
feather across skin
hints of lavender or mint
oaks and pines or fresh cut grass
Sometimes the scent of pie or bread
other treats both savory and sweet
Sometimes more,
blowing hair, raising a chill
on exposed arms and neck
Light jacket required
Sun shining still
Or stars wavering as the air moves
Touch growing stronger
breeze disappears
in the force of the wind
blowing leaves, difficult to walk
spreading odors of life
and decay
Dust devils and water spouts
becoming a wind
driving snow or dust or rain
Trees, even signs wave madly
Still beautiful,
but beginning to terrify
Tornados, focus
power of the wind
uprooting everything, including lives
Hurricanes spread
power of the wind
Flooding, stranding people and lives
Violent wind eventually
diminishes and stills
violence ceasing
fading into memory
Sky clearing, the breeze remains
Joy replacing terror
