Yesterday, bright with color

joy in learning

in sharing

in building

Sun, warmth and blue sky

conspire to build up the day

Accomplishments richer

Failures and frustrations smaller

less consequential.

As rain begins, the light remains

a spiritual thing.

Today, gray and dull,

light enough

but gray

Students struggle for motivation

Lacking focus

not producing or creating

As if gray drains the energy

from everyone and everything.

Sun shining makes no difference,

seems gray itself

Yet, more is done by the end

of the day that is gray

than the one full of light

Determination to succeed

brings light to the gray,

despite clouds roiling and dark

Light and sky are not the keys

Gray days and light

result from what we bring

Attitude, spirit, purpose, desire

make gray bright or blue sky dark
