Tall and strong
or so we think
viewing the world from above
safe from the rabble below
Are we really?
Towers isolate
separate from those below
whether good or bad
Represent the superior
at least the illusion
an impossible goal for those
who don’t have their own
In the tower, alone
feeling the illusion of safety
and we are
until the tower falls
disintegrating before the pressure from those below
and those within,
hiding in fear
rather than stepping out
joining the throng
finding humanity in the crowd
no longer hiding
Whether we want or not
Strength of towers is myth
Safety above illusory
A single push starts the fall
People thrive
in the company of others
revel in diversity
listen to stories
In them all, the towers fall
People grow
As they do, some withdraw,
creating new towers
buying into the myth
of superiority
of safety
of hiding to stay “pure”
Until they fall again.
Towers work best when they are flat
when people communicate
and share
becoming community.
