Sun bright, warming the sand and rocks

grass green, growing tall

sky clear blue, wisps of cloud

unseasonably warm for the time of year

Nature takes advantage

trees and bushes in bud

some even leafing

bees searching for something to pollinate

lady bugs walking fresh shoots

brilliant red against the green

even deer in shed, laying about

soaking up the rays

And in a crevice filled with sun

rock warming with the morn

bask a dessert lizard

calmly enjoying the warmth

perhaps getting an early tan

ignoring those around, at peace

mid February in Colorado

seems to be celebrating life

and the coming spring,

seasons out of time and sync
