Five years have passed
The house that was empty now full to bursting
Now we prepare to leave
But what was simple in the past is no longer
We have too much!
We started small, the garage
Only to find all of the stuff is needed
Oh, we found a trash bag-full
That can be discarded
We have too much!
We found a few tools to share.
We don’t really need 6 drills
But we won’t eliminate them
A new home to be found
We have too much!
Next the library
But, we can’t throw out the books, can we?
Even if they don’t relate to anything anymore.
Fortunately it’s only 1000 or so, not still in boxes.
We have too much!
The kitchen should be fine, right?
But it isn’t
Bowls and skillets and pots galore.
And all have a specific purpose
We have too much!
Bedrooms are easy, aren’t they?
But no, we keep acquiring clothing
As weight fluctuates or we wear it out.
Perhaps some to donate, (but not my favorites).
We have too much!
Still, the move is soon. Two weeks
Deposit paid
Movers and truck scheduled.
Several days of grace scheduled.
It’s frightening, but, maybe
We don’t have too much.
Just enough to savor the memories
and make new ones in a new place.
